The mood today seemed a bit more subdued, a bit less frenzied than
yesterday, but participants were still working diligently without paying much
attention to the clock. The morning coffee break was poorly attended, and the
one in the afternoon was neglected almost entirely. And while the published schedule
calls for a break from noon to 2:00, most groups were still working when I left
for lunch around 12:20 and were getting together again when I arrived at 1:50.
The frequency with which I received completed folders from the
word-collection groups seemed greatly reduced in comparison to yesterday, but
the numbers at the end of the day showed that output for the day was only somewhat
less than on Monday. Another 1300 words were added to the total, bringing us to
2,905 for the two days combined.
In other news, I changed rooms at the Catholic guest house this
evening. There was a problem with the overhead light fixture in the room where
I had been staying. Two nights ago, as I was composing my blog entry at 3:00am—the
only time of day or night that I’m able to access the internet here—there was a
“POP” in the fixture, so I quit trying to use it. So I’m now in a different
room, which has a nearly identical layout to the one I had been in.
My health is now nearly 100%, with just a bit of drainage remaining in
the aftermath of my cold. The stomachache I experienced on Sunday had me
worrying that I was coming down with something that would plague me for the
rest of my stay here, but it went away after eating that afternoon, and I’ve
had no recurrence of those symptoms since. I’m very thankful for good health
now!
